Cat owner refuses to bring her indoor cat outside after neighbor's 4-year-old kid sees the cat through the window and demands to meet her: ‘Lily doesn't like strangers’

Most cats enjoy people watching… behind a sealed glass window and from the safety of their homes.

Every cat owner knows that time of day when their fluffy felines make their way to the windowsill, get comfortable in front of the glass, and sit there for hours on end. They start the activity by inspecting who comes and goes, listening to the birds, and watching for anyone who may pass the house. Then, they nap under the warm sunlight, and when they wake, they go right back to their close inspection of everything that happens on the other side of the window.

They don't wave, they don't try to catch any attention, they simply sit there in peace and watch the world go by.

We're sure that if you were to ask your cats if they would do anything different about this activity, they wouldn't want to change a thing. That is why we are also sure that if you were to suggest to your cat to embark on this activity by actually going outside and viewing the world without the window in between, their answer would be a firm no.

Some cats enjoy the great outdoors, others hate it with their entire hearts. It is up to their pawrents to know their preferences and to act accordingly. The 22-year-old cat owner in the story below, for example, knows for a fact that her cat, Lily, is an indoor cat with no intention of being outdoors. According to her pawrent, Lily likes to watch people from the window, but she doesn't want any interaction with them, and Lily's mom has no problem with that.

The 22-year-old's neighbors, however, seem to want that to change. As soon as their 4-year-old son saw Lily sitting at her usual spot by the window, he insisted that he wanted to meet her. But when the neighbor asked the young cat owner if they could bring Lily outside to meet their son, the owner refused, explaining that it wouldn't be a fun experience for her beloved pet. Yet the neighbors refused to back down, and kept demanding to arrange a meeting, until they completely went out of line…

  • Cat_Impossible_0 NTA! You made the right call. Any injuries that may occur from this interaction, his parents would've taken you to court over. The kid needs to s k it up. You're teaching him a lesson that you don't always get your way in life. I wouldn't even let that family adopt any cat from a shelter and bring it around to their two hyperactive huskies around their house. They are very reckless.
